Dogs For Autism is the first charity in the UK to specialise in Dogs For Autism, and the only charity to provide dogs free of charge to autistic people of any age, anywhere in the UK.
We place Autism Assistance Dogs with autistic people to give them the support and unconditional friendship of an assistance dog.
Our dogs transform the lives of autistic people and their families. They:
Provide safety in the outside world
Increase independence and enable autistic people to leave the home with better self-regulation and confidence
Reduce anxiety and sensory overload
Enable children and young people to access education
Increase access to public spaces
Help families to attend medical appointments
Encourage communication, turn-taking and language development
Improve access to chosen communities and help with making connections
