12 days of LIFE at Christmas

The LIFE Foundation (life intervention friendship and education foundation), works in Olt, Romania with babies, children and adults who live in governmental care facilities. Often because their own families are no longer able to look after them. All beneficiaries have additional physical, medical and/or psychological needs. We also have started to support families who may be at risk of their family member becoming institutionalized or suffering from deprivation/ stigmatization because of their childs additional needs.

We provide a wide range of help based on individual needs. At the most basic this includes providing much needed supplies such as nappies, Sudocrem, vitamins and food supplements. We also offer physiotherapy and play therapy sessions, provided by our two members of Romanian staff and we offer support and training for staff and carers. We often fund medical interventions as well as ensuring they have medical equipment/ wheelchairs/ standing frames. For individuals living in institutions, we aim to teach them skills to promote their independence and sense of competence, while also reducing stigma towards people with disabilities in their communities.
