About us
One in six older people are victims of abuse. That’s over 16% of our mothers, fathers, uncles, aunties, grannies, grandads, friends and neighbours. The Hourglass mission is simple: end the harm, abuse and exploitation of older people in the UK.
We have nearly 30 years’ experience as Action on Elder Abuse and over that time our work has touched tens of thousands of people, it’s shaped government policy and amplified the issue in national press. That’s why Hourglass is so vital. As the UK’s only charity focused on the abuse and neglect of older people, we staff a free-to-call helpline. It’s an absolute lifeline for older men, women and their families suffering from the five forms of abuse: physical, psychological, financial, sexual or neglect.
24/7 Hourglass Challenge
Event dates: Tuesday 15th June 2021 – Thursday 15th July 2021
Join us on our 24/7 Hourglass Challenge! We’re asking our supporters to complete physical activity for 24 mins every day, for 7 days a week from 15th June to 15th July.
Our aim is to be the UK's first, and only, 24-hour Safer Ageing Helpline, to give information, guidance and support for free whenever an older person needs help.
Help us raise £5,000 to source an urgent out-of-hours helpline officer, so we can support more older abuse victims.
