A fun chase to fundraise for The Island Trust

Raising for The Island Trust

Event date:

We're taking part in this year’s Eddystone Charity Sailing Pursuit, the South West’s biggest sailing fundraising event.

On Saturday 13 June 2026, Johanna Lucretia will sail 26 miles to the Eddystone Lighthouse and back, raising money to give young people the chance to experience adventure, challenge and discovery through sail training.

Please donate if you can.  Every gift, no matter the size, will make a real difference - and the more we raise, the more points we earn towards the final prize fund.

Here's what your support could help provide:

  • £10 will buy I-spy booklets and marine life resources for two profoundly disabled young people
  • £50 will help us to provide the food for an outdoor residential adventure for one young person
  • £60 will buy a life jacket
  • £196 will buy a days outdoor activity sailing
  • £984 a life-changing 5 night voyage of discovery for one young person

If you're joining us on board or entering your own boat, please do create your own Fundraising page too.

'Motivating Young People Through Sailing'
The Island Trust helps young people with disabilities, learning difficulties, and those suffering deprivation to take part in exciting adventure voyages on board our fleet of traditional sailing boats.
Through the challenge of learning to sail we provide disadvantaged young people with the opportunity to develop their capabilities and life-skills. We coach the teamwork and communication skills necessary to lead a fun, healthy and independent life. Vocational training offered on board can contribute to long-term employment prospects. Our young sailors return to their communities with an altered outlook on life, increased motivation and a fresh perspective on their self-worth and abilities. For many who sail with us, this outdoor experience could be the first time they have stayed away from home, left the inner city or community where they live.
