Raising for Catholic Diocese of Portsmouth
This year Sea Sunday is Sunday 13 July, a day for people to come together to pray for seafarers and fishers, and thank them for the vital role they play in all of our lives.
Seafarers and fishers are essential to our daily lives, yet they often endure challenging and dangerous working conditions. The number of crews being abandoned by their employers remains alarmingly high. Ongoing global conflicts are putting seafarers at greater risk, and many are facing increased stress and declining mental health.
Stella Maris, formerly known as the Apostleship of the Sea, is the Catholic Church’s maritime ministry. Its dedicated chaplains offer both practical assistance and pastoral support to seafarers and fishers across the UK and around the world.
