HIAS+JCORE works to engage the Jewish Community in social action and social justice in the wider society, focusing on race equality and justice for refugees and asylum seekers. Our work draws on Jewish refugee experience, teaching and tradition of Jewish social activism.
Event dates: Friday 1st October 2021 – Tuesday 1st March 2022
The sudden fall of Kabul and its tragic consequences are particularly resonant for the Jewish community. Those Afghans who manage to get on a plane and come to the UK are, thankfully, out of danger. But many have arrived with little more than the clothes on their backs.
There is a huge and urgent need for basic necessities – everything from outerwear and underwear to toothpaste and towels – followed by practical, social and psychological support.
Please help us to make a difference in helping to provide these basic necessities.
ABOUT BRWB
Barnet Refugee Welcome Board (BRWB) was formed in 2016 to help 50 Syrian refugees settle in Barnet. BRWB is a collaborative effort of Finchley Progressive Synagogue, Finchley Reform Synagogue, Finchley Quakers, Barnet Justice & Peace Group churches with support from Hendon School & Middlesex University Students Union.
Donations to this appeal will be managed by JCORE, The Jewish Council for Racial Equality, on behalf of BRWB. These funds will be kept separate from JCORE's main appeal for Afghan refugees and BRWB will decide how these funds are used.
