Northampton Transport Heritage is a registered charity dedicated to preserving Northamptonshire transport history and making it accessible to the public. We currently preserve eight Northants operated or registered buses which are ex-United Counties and Northampton Corporation Transport. We host running day events and partner with local authorities and other organisations. We also take our vehicles out to schools, care homes and day centres as well as running various members-only trips throughout the year.
As with all older vehicles they need regular maintenance and ongoing restoration to keep them safe and presentable for the general public to use. 267 is a special vehicle in that it is the last front engined, rear open platformed bus ever built for the home market. As such it has its own place in UK transport history. It has been around 30 years since it was last restored and is now showing its age. We need to start the process of restoring this vehicle in order to preserve it for the nation. This includes the engine and gearbox.
