Safe and sound
This independent inshore rescue service became a charity in 1971. It works in close co-operation with the Coastguard and the local RNLI stations responding to emergencies that occur along the coastline from missing children at Camber sands to people in trouble at sea.
The Association is run completely by volunteers of all ages! It depends on fundraising and donations entirely for an effective service.
PLIRB is growing!
We are blessed to have an amazingly talented, professional and dedicated team and continue to welcome new volunteers.
We are tasked increasingly frequently - day and night. Our growing team of committed, local volunteers ensures we continue to respond to every tasking and ensure we respond extremely quickly.
However, an expanding team and increased demands on our services has pushed our existing boathouse footprint to its limits. To be able to continue to provide an excellent service to our community, we need to future proof our facilities - to accommodate future boat assets and provide a decent and safe environment for our volunteers.
We have secured planning permission to start the development which we hope to complete during 2025.
We now need your help to get us there! You can support our Buy a Brick campaign.
You can choose the amount you wish to contribute. In exchange, you can leave a personal message which will be displayed on our Brick Wall display inside the new boathouse.
