About us
We provide support to refugees and asylum seekers in Cheltenham. Our application to become a charity was approved on Friday (23 July 2021).
We work to raise awareness and understanding of the issues faced by refugees in the UK and throughout the world. We want to build a kinder and more inclusive society through vocal support of resettlement, migration and asylum.
We also arrange community events to help families to meet up with one another and adjust to their new homes together. We hold summer picnics and Eid celebrations, as well as providing background support and resources as needed.
CWR: We Go Further Together
Event dates: Saturday 28th August 2021 – Wednesday 3rd November 2021
The aim of Together We Go Further is to raise funds for Cheltenham Welcomes Refugees activities supporting refugee families and people seeking asylum in Cheltenham. CWR wants to highlight the plight of refugees and displaced children as embodied by Amal. ‘Little Amal’, a 3.5 metre-tall puppet of a young refugee girl, will travel over 8,000km from the Syria-Turkey border all the way to the UK. Representing all displaced children, many separated from their families, Little Amal embodies the urgent message “Don’t forget about us”. Are you a keen runner, swimmer, cyclist or someone who gets in their 10,000 steps in a day? Then why not challenge yourself and fundraise for CWR while smashing your goal! Collectively let’s see whether we can match Amal's 8,000km journey.
