Wider Concerns Easter envelope collection

Raising for Great St. Mary's and its supported charities

The envelope collection will be divided between 3 charities:
The Middle East Humanitarian Appeal by the Disasters Emergency Committee; The Jerusalem and the Middle East Church Association, to support the Al Ahli Hospital, Gaza; and
Romsey Mill, Cambridge

The Middle East Humanitarian Appeal by DEC (the Disasters Emergency Committee) brings together 15 leading UK aid charities to raise funds quickly and efficiently at times of humanitarian crisis overseas.

The Jerusalem and the Middle East Church Association, to support the Al Ahli Hospital, Gaza.
The Diocese of Jerusalem has for over 150 years played a pivotal cultural and political role in the region, providing a witness to the love of Christ through their parishes and institutions.  Tragically the Christian presence is under threat in the region, when the presence of the Church, witnessing to the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, is needed more than ever to serve and pray for those communities experiencing a fragile ceasefire in Gaza and the increasing difficulties in the West Bank.  The Diocese of Jerusalem - and the Church at large in the region - needs our prayer and support to enable it to continue amid such difficulties. These have only increased since the recent outbreak of war between the US, Israel and Iran.
The Al Ahli hospital in Gaza is the only Christian hospital in Gaza.  It fearlessly continues to serve all (Ahl) in Gaza, despite five bomb attacks during the war. At the ceasefire it was operating at more than double its normal capacity.

Romsey Mill, Cambridge
Romsey Mill is a charity committed to overcoming disadvantage, challenging injustice and promoting social inclusion with young people, children and families

About us

Great St. Mary's and its supported charities

Charity number: 1127668

Great St Mary's is an open and inclusive Christian community in the heart of Cambridge. Our foundations were laid in 1010, and we have been the University Church since 1209. We are a spiritual home for the University and the City of Cambridge, a Church of England parish in the Diocese of Ely, and a destination for visitors from around the world. We are also a Living Wage Employer, and a Silver-Award Eco Church.
We use this site to collect for our church and also for charities we support, details of which can be seen on individual campaigns.
