To provide one-off grants to UK-based families with a child/young adult newly diagnosed with cancer. The grants are available to cover immediate expenses, such as travel and accommodation costs. The grant is promoted through social workers whose role involves sourcing grants and applying on behalf of families they deem eligible. Grants are paid directly to the patient or family. UK-based cancer charity workers and health professionals select suitable patients to apply for support from the Foundation.
To provide financial support for education to disadvantaged children and young adults in the Philippines. This idea comes from Margaret's personal experience and from direct involvement with families and students. Support takes the form of grants, direct payment of school/university fees, or payments to other established charities. Trustees find suitable students through established organisations working in The Philippines. The Foundation follows advice and guidance from charities and education professionals when selecting suitable candidates to receive financial support for education.
To make donations to cancer research programmes, studies, and charities, particularly those involved with leading research into Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma. Payments are made through official funding channels or via other cancer charities. The Foundation conducts its own searches in order to select cancer research programmes deemed suitable to receive support.
Event dates: Tuesday 10th September – Sunday 15th September
Hello everyone, I am delighted to share an inspiring and challenging journey that I, along with four close friends, will be embarking on from the 10th to 15th September 2024. We will be walking the Camino de Santiago trail from Tui to Santiago de Compostela, a trek of 120 kilometers, over six days. We are supporting The Margaret Adcock Foundation - a cause which is very close to us. Visit our website at margaretadcock.org
Joyce is a Critical Care Outreach Nurse, is going on this pilgrimage to honour her parents. Their lives marked by kindness, strength, love and simplicity, will serve as a guiding beacon illuminating her path on this spiritual journey.
Mel is an IT professional, plans to embark on a journey to undertake the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage in search of personal growth and self-discovery. Alongside her close-knit tribe of friends, united by strong bonds and deep friendship, she aims to foster resilience, endurance, and a collective sense of purpose.
Maan is a Natural Nurse and Health Coach. Whilst more at home in the water than on dry land, she embraces Camino as a journey of friendship and support alongside personal introspection and spiritual growth.
Lisa is a Managing Director of a rail training company, is walking the Camino de Santiago in memory of Maggie, a true inspiration who was full of love, laughter and bravery. The walk is going to be both mentally and physically challenging but the sense of satisfaction and accomplishment will be incredible!
Lyn is a Specialist Nurse and mum of an angel, who is still navigating life without her daughter. She is going on this pilgrimage to reflect and honour the beautiful life of her daughter, Maggie, who tragically passed away from cancer a year ago. Through her journey, she hopes to inspire others to join her in supporting the Foundation.
The Camino de Santiago, also known as the way of St. James, has been a pilgrimage route for centuries. Starting in the historic town of Tui on the Spanish / Portuguese border, we will walk through picturesque coastal landscapes, through villages and forests, and finally reach the beautiful Santiago de Compostela cathedral. The journey is not without its challenges: blisters, sore muscles, and the unpredictable coastal weather will test our endurance. It will be a profound spiritual and emotional journey.
Every step we will take will be fuelled by the generosity and support of friends, family, and compassionate individuals. Your donation, no matter the amount, will make a significant impact. Maggie’s legacy will live on forever.

We've done it!
We set off early, before sunrise, and yesterday at 4 PM, we finally arrived at the stunning Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela! We covered over 20 miles in 34°C heat, and though it was tough, we MADE IT! Feeling overjoyed, we laughed, we cried—it was an unforgettable experience that left us incredibly proud.
The journey wasn’t easy, but along the way, we met amazing people from all walks of life. Hearing their stories was truly inspiring. This special community, walking side by side, bonded over the same purpose.
In total, we walked 117.67 miles, taking over a quarter of a million steps! Over six days.
Thank you all so much for your incredible generosity and support. It means the world to us. Please continue sharing our story, our mission, and our purpose. Maggie’s legacy will live on forever.

🌄 Day 4: Pontevedra to Caldas de reis 🌄
Yesterday, we made the journey from Porrino to Pontevedra! Despite sore muscles and a few blisters, we continue walking with strength and determination. Along the way, we’ve met amazing people, shared the story of the Margaret Adcock Foundation, and found comfort in the kindness of strangers.
Today’s path is a long one, with challenging terrain ahead. But with each step, we walk for those who need it most.
Your support means the world to us! Please keep sharing our journey, spreading awareness, and supporting the Foundation’s mission. Every step counts.

🎗 *Childhood Cancer Awareness Month* 🎗
"This has been a very challenging video to put together, sharing Maggie's journey during her cancer diagnosis. But this is the harsh reality of childhood cancer."
Today, we remember Margaret Adcock, a bright and beautiful soul who faced the harsh realities of childhood cancer. From the moments before her diagnosis to the brave fight, she fought after. 💛
For the families, the pain is unimaginable—a journey no one should ever have to navigate. This video is a glimpse into that harsh reality, but it's also a call for change.
