Help give someone the gift of an assistance dog!

Event dates: Saturday 28th August 2021 – Monday 30th August 2021

Please help Hounds for Heroes raise £3,000 to buy a pedigree Labrador or Golden Retriever puppy from a reputable breeder, to be trained and partnered as a working assistance dog. You can do this by taking part in the Wagathon™, which is a national campaign launched by Give as you Live Donate, running between Saturday 28th August – Monday 30th August.

To support us, we need you to sign up your four-legged companions and take part in a national Walk 9K for K9s challenge in celebration of National Dog Day on Thursday 26th August 2021.

Why Hounds for Heroes?

Being partnered with an assistance dog can bring about profound changes to a person’s life, as our dogs are trained to provide the support that enables their Partner to gain their independence back. Our dogs can be trained to respond to spoken commands, hand signals, tasks, and emergency situations. When required, they can pick up items, assist with dressing and undressing, press buttons to open and close doors, get help from someone nearby, activate an emergency call system, fetch a blanket and make sure their partners' mobile phone is close enough for them to use if needed.

So now we need your help. Your support will allow Hounds for Heroes to acquire a pedigree Labrador or Golden Retriever puppy, who will be transformed into a specially trained assistance dog. We have a team of highly dedicated and specialist trainers who work with our hand-picked puppies to train them to an advanced level so they can give personalised and practical support to their Partner.
