New roof over the stables

Raising for Haworth RDA

We urgently need to erect an apex roof to cover the toilet block, canteen and stables. Our current roof is no longer secure and after the recent cold spell has started to come down in places. We need to raise the funds for a new roof urgently so our RDA horses stay warm and dry over the remainder of winter.

About us

Haworth RDA

Charity number: 1177287

.Haworth RDA was founded on 2001 with just 1 horse and 1 disabled rider. It was founded to provide that rider with a safe environment in which to gain therapeutic benefit from horse riding. Now in our 21st year and having grown in response to our riders’ needs and their ideas, we have created a varied programme of equine related activities. Disabled people and their healthcare needs are our main priority. We now provide them with recreation, therapy, sporting opportunity and educational development using horse riding and horse related activities to engage disabled people and benefit their health and well being. We function solely to benefit the health and well being of those with disabilities.
We see the positive changes that involvement in our activities has on the health and well being of disabled people. These include improvements in core strength, dexterity, flexibility, mobility, fine and gross motor skills, balance, coordination, muscle and cognitive memory. In addition participation in horse riding builds self-confidence, communication and concentration and helps combat obesity – a challenge for many disabled people that struggle with movement.
We also provide volunteering opportunities to everyone in our community helping build long term support structures and better understanding to others needs.
Our activities include horse riding lessons, stable management, after school and holiday clubs, volunteering and work experience.
