127 Metres Down – Lisa’s Express Lift Tower Challenge for Dreamflight

On Saturday 27th September 2025, I took on the incredible (and slightly terrifying!) challenge of abseiling down the Express Lift Tower in Northampton - all to raise money for a charity that means the world to me: Dreamflight.

Why Dreamflight?

In January 2013, our lives were turned upside down when our two-year-old son, Hugo, was rushed into hospital with a life-threatening bowel condition. After six months in hospital and multiple surgeries, Hugo came through thanks to the incredible care of the teams at Leicester Royal Infirmary and Northampton General Hospital.
Fast forward to 2023, and something magical happened: Hugo was nominated to go on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Orlando with Dreamflight, joining 191 other brave and deserving children.

Dreamflight is a UK charity that takes children with serious illnesses or disabilities on a 10-day adventure to Orlando. It’s a chance to build confidence, independence, and lifelong memories, all supported by a team of medical professionals and volunteers.

For children with more complex needs, Dreamflight also runs UK-based adventures, ensuring every child has the chance to explore, grow, and have fun.

Since 1987, Dreamflight has sent over 6,787 children on their holiday of a lifetime and relies entirely on public donations to raise over £1 million each year.

Why I’m Fundraising

Dreamflight gave Hugo an unforgettable experience - one that helped him grow in ways no medicine ever could. This is my way of saying thank you, and helping more children, like Hugo enjoy the same magical opportunity.
