International Safeguards for Children, Young People and Adults

#Help us employ a project manager and research assistant to support the continued promotion and adoption of the International Safeguards For Children In Sport, and promote and further develop resources that support the International Safeguards For Adults In Sport.

The International Safeguards for Children in Sport initiative consists of more than 150 organisations across six continents working together since 2012, to make sport a safer space for children. These organisations represent both sport and sport for development, and range from Government organisations and large International Federations, to small grassroots organisations working in resource poor settings.

SSI has developed the first set of International Safeguards for Adults in Sport that complement the already established International Safeguards for Children in Sport. The new safeguards are based on grounded research with a range of stakeholders and consultations with athlete voice, education and training, and focus groups.

• The safeguards recognise that an individual does not suddenly become safe on their 18th birthday and so highlights specific issues relevant to young people participating in adult sport environments.

We are seeking funding for a project manager to promote and encourage adoption of the safeguards, develop further resources, and support organisations to move towards meeting international standards for safeguarding children, talent athletes, and adults in sport.
