About us

Cheadle Animal Welfare (Registered Charity No 1039350) is an organisation run entirely by a small group of dedicated volunteers. Our charity was set up in 1968 to take responsibility for the stray, abandoned and unwanted dogs and cats within Cheadle and the Staffordshire Moorlands area. Where possible, we also provide help for animals that have become homeless due to death or illness in families.

The Society ensures that each animal coming into its care receives any required veterinary treatment and it pledges that no healthy animal is destroyed.

CAN YOU HELP US TO HELP NORMAN?

In February 2023 we took in Norman, a fabulous, young ginger and white cat, who had previously lived as a free spirit, but sadly he must have been hit by a car which caused damage to both of his back legs.  Cutting a very long story short, Norman was nursed back to health and found a wonderful home, but his legs have never fully recovered and he frequently gets sores on his hock because he doesn’t walk properly, as a result he has to make frequent visits to the vets to have his hocks dressed.

As if this wasn’t enough for Norman to cope with, he recently had a blockage and was unable to urinate.  Off he went to the vets again.  He had to be anaesthetised to be unblocked and then catheterised.  He also had various blood tests which showed that his blood was not as it should be so he had to go on a drip and had to be put into the care of the emergency vets overnight.  As you can imagine all this treatment has proved to be very expensive and we are asking if there is anyone who can help.  Donations, no matter how small, will be gratefully accepted and 100% of your donation will be given to Norman to use for his ongoing veterinary care.

Thank you for caring.
