About us

We are bringing Westcountry rivers to life.

We do so by restoring and protecting the water environments of the region to benefit all who rely on them, while also supporting long-term water resilience.

Our work helps nature and people. The natural world we live in sustains us all as we live our lives and it is vital we take steps to care for it in return. Through catchment-wide ecosystem projects to grassroot community events, our vision is to see healthy Westcountry freshwater environments and river habitats teeming with life.

Salmon Run 2024

Event date: Sunday 29th September

This year marks the third annual Salmon Run along the River Exe, organised by Tidelines with support from Westcountry Rivers Trust.

Get your running shoes ready to raise awareness of the endangered Atlantic salmon as you fundraise to help keep the River Exe healthy.

If you are an ultra-runner you can cover 50 miles up-river from Exmouth to Exmoor, passing through Exeter and Tiverton on the Exe Valley Way, while relay teams can run the same route in seven sections, passing a symbolic hand-crafted salmon baton from hand to hand.
But if you prefer a shorter distance or to go at a slower pace, people of all ages and abilities can join the event at Exeter’s Riverside Valley Park for a 5km leg of the relay.

Whatever you do, we’ll be cheering you on all the way as you raise funds to improve fish passage for migratory species along the river and in turn support river health and biodiversity.

You’ll be in good company too as an Olympic athlete is taking part!
Book your running place at tidelines.uk/blog/salmon-run-2024/

Set up your fundraising page today and share with potential sponsors such as friends and family – the money you raise will help us to keep the fish swimming.

You will also see a donate button if you prefer to simply contribute.
