About us
We’re Nai’s House, a charity based in Bicester, Oxfordshire. Our work improves the mental health and wellbeing of teenagers and young adults, with a specific focus on suicide prevention.
We are currently the only service in Oxfordshire specifically devoted to youth suicide prevention. The support we offer is consistent, confidential, delivered in a non-clinical environment, and tailored to meet our guests’ individual needs. This involves not only 1 to 1 Support, but also group and individual wellbeing activities. We provide support to parents and carers of young people who are struggling with their mental health, as well as offering suicide bereavement support to people of all ages. Our counselling service is delivered by qualified and student counsellors and our holistic team offers a range of complementary treatments to help alleviate physical symptoms associated with poor mental health.
Our ultimate aim is to provide our service in every town and city across the UK, and potentially beyond. For now, we see our Bicester operation as a pilot project and we would be grateful if you could support us with funding for this valuable lifesaving work. Thank you.
Together We Will Save Lives
We’re Nai’s House, a charity based in Bicester, Oxfordshire. Our work improves the mental health and wellbeing of teenagers and young adults, with a specific focus on suicide prevention.
We were founded in 2019 by Gem Barrett in memory of her daughter Dené (known as Nai) who took her own life in 2017 at the age of 22.
Since then we have helped over 600 young people with suicidality, self-harm, and poor mental health.
We are currently the only service in Oxfordshire specifically devoted to young people's mental health and suicide prevention. The support we offer is consistent, confidential, delivered in a non-clinical environment, and tailored to meet our guests’ individual needs.
Sadly we are struggling to meet the demand for our service that we are now facing. More and more young people are getting in touch asking for help with over 200 young people on our waiting list, many of them who can’t get the support they need through the NHS given the pressures on those services.
Last year 65 people in Oxfordshire took their own life - most of them young adults with suicide now the biggest cause of death for people under 35.
It’s an emergency, but it's one we can help address with your help. If Nai’s House can grow and expand our services, we can offer help to the 200 plus people on the waiting list, and the dozens of young people who contact us every month asking for help.
Your support could make a massive difference and offer a genuine lifeline.
By funding us, you will be supporting an alternative approach to addressing youth mental health issues. Unlike statutory services, Nai's House takes a holistic and individualised approach. While the NHS offers critical mental health services, Nai's House specialises in tailoring its support to young individuals, making it more accessible and relatable to young people. Additionally, Nai’s House offers ongoing support rather than a fixed number of sessions.
£20 pays for us to provide a counselling session
£25 pays for us to provide a 1-to-1 support session
£70 pays to train someone in SafeTalk, helping them to identify and talk to a person thinking of suicide and how to signpost them to safety.
£100 pays for one in-school workshop
£125 pays for a guest to see a 1-to-1 Supporter for a month.
£200 a month from your business qualifies you for our corporate sponsor programme where you will feature on our website and the Nai's House team will work with your staff to help run mental health support programmes in your organisation.
