The Children of Ukraine - Delivering Hope This December
Raising for CARE UK Charity
This December, CARE UK Charity is once again proud to support Steve Holland and The Children of Ukraine Project on another vital delivery of aid to Zatyshok Kids Village in Ukraine.
💚 Who we’re supporting
Zatyshok Kids Village is an orphanage currently home to over 70 children from across Ukraine. Many have lost their parents or been displaced by the ongoing war.
The village provides:
- Safe accommodation and warm meals 🍲
- Education and development opportunities 🎒
- Care, stability and community for children and single mothers displaced by war 💛
Although the headlines have quietened, the war in Ukraine is far from over. This winter, they face freezing temperatures, power cuts and severe shortages of essential supplies. Together, we can help them prepare and stay safe.
👤 About Steve Holland
Steve Holland, founder of The Children of Ukraine Project, has a military background and first worked in Ukraine providing security for journalists when the conflict began. He now works with World Central Kitchen, and is using his own time off from Gaza to hand-deliver this next round of aid in December.

🎁 What we’re funding
CARE UK Charity is already sending a shipment of clothing (covered), but we urgently need your help to fund the remaining essentials on Zatyshok Kids Village’s wish list, including:
- 🧴 Toiletries and hygiene items
- 🩲 Underwear
- ✏️ Stationery and educational supplies
- 💊 Medical and first aid essentials
- 🔋 Power banks
We’re also looking for an organisation willing to sponsor selection boxes or personalised gifts for each of the 70 children this Christmas.
All funds raised will go directly towards purchasing and delivering these items before Steve’s December trip.

CARE UK Charity

No bed. No kettle. No basics. This is poverty in our town.
At CARE UK Charity, we provide free essential items to individuals and families living in crisis across Warrington and the surrounding areas.
That includes people fleeing domestic violence, parents trying to rebuild after bereavement, people living with long-term illness or mental health struggles, and those seeking asylum. Circumstances vary, but for many, they’ve just been given a property after a period of instability. While getting a roof over their head is a huge step forward, the homes they move into are often completely empty. No sofa. No bed. No duvet or pillows.
We step in with practical, compassionate support. That includes preloved clothing, donated furniture, and essential household items. In 2024, we distributed over 17,600 items of clothing to people across Warrington. Most was donated and passed directly on, with only underwear needing to be purchased.
But many of the most-needed household essentials, such as microwaves, kettles, hygiene and cleaning packs, pillows, and duvets, can’t be donated and must be bought. In total, we delivered 3,719 essential household items in 2024 alone. Right now, demand is so high we’re struggling to keep up.
While other services offer some support, none provide the same breadth of practical, essential items that we do. We are a unique service in our community, and without your support, we can’t continue this vital work.
