Tony Fuller's 247 mile bike ride for PLIRB

Raising for Pett Level Independent Rescue Boat

Local supporter Tony Fuller has very kindly offered to complete a sponsored bike ride to raise money for Pett Level Independent Rescue Boat.

Tony will complete this impressive feat during our Open Day on Sunday 24 August - we invite our community to come down to support him!

In recognition of PLIRB's 24/7 service, Tony will complete 247 miles of cycling around Pett Level, Rye and the surrounding area during August.

You can follow Tony's journey at strava.com/activities/15071650428

Tony's initial target was £500 to support our campaign to raise funds for new drysuits. As he's passed that already, we've raised the target to £800 - thank you to everyone who has donated so far!

Despite having one knee replacement and waiting for the second operation, Tony has shown his generosity and selected us to support. Tony works at Littlegate Farm and has previously completed sponsored bike rides in aid of SANDS.

Please do support Tony and PLIRB by sponsoring him if you can - every donation is vital and greatly appreciated.

About us

Pett Level Independent Rescue Boat

Charity number: 286891

We are an independent lifeboat based in Pett Level, East Sussex, serving the community between Camber and Hastings. With a 55-year history, our mission is the preservation of life at sea and on inland waters. We train, operate and launch for service in exactly the same way as the RNLI but, like all independent lifeboats, we are entirely self-funded and self-managed.

We operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and everyone is a volunteer.

We are tasked by UK Coastguard and work in cooperation with local RNLI stations and all other emergency services. We are tasked 30+ times a year, in addition to local calls for first aid and other community services. We often cover for our neighbouring RNLI stations in Rye and Hastings when they do not have the personnel to respond to taskings.

We operate two rescue boats, a 5.4 metre Zodiac MilPro RIB and a 3.4 metre Arancia Surf RIB. These assets allow us to get in close to the cliffs – essential for our area.

Our taskings range from towing casualty vessels, locating and rescuing casualties on the cliffs or cut off by the tide, searching for missing children or vulnerable people and many other types of incidents.
