About us
We produce, promote and create opportunities for children and young people to improve their mental health and wellbeing through singing.
We believe in harnessing the power of singing to improve people's mental health and wellbeing. With 50% of mental health problems established by the age of 14 and 75% by the age of 24, we believe it's critical to focus on prevention by working with young people. The benefits of singing, especially in groups, are wide-ranging with extensive research supporting the physiological, social, psychological and behavioural benefits.
Join us and create a healthier world through song.
Singing with Refugees
In partnership with Surrey Arts, Sing Up Foundation have developed a longitudinal 3-year action research project that will make major strides in building and disseminating a model for vocal work with young refugees and unaccompanied minors in the UK and beyond.
This project will deliver singing and music making workshops with young adolescents, young children and mothers and babies and aims to:
- Develop a trained, professional, diverse and supported expert workforce which can function effectively in this high-needs, volatile environment, co-led with musicians with lived experience
- Create and publish a resource base (including evaluation and advocacy toolkit) to disseminate effective practice
- Understand and publish research findings on effective practice and the role of the singing leader in this context
- Develop a network and partnerships for further research, training and capacity building
- Include children’s voices in longitudinal research measuring the impact of vocal work on their mental health and wellbeing.
Please consider supporting our project and help us to bring singing and music-making to the lives of these vulnerable children and young people.
