About us
Cancer United is a unique, award-winning charity dedicated to improving the lives of people living with and beyond cancer.
Founded in West Sussex in 2012, Cancer United was born out of a single, life-changing moment: our founder, Jan Sheward, faced her own cancer diagnosis and discovered, like thousands of others, that surviving cancer is only the beginning of an incredibly difficult journey. We are the only cancer support charity in the UK that offers a specialist, dedicated fully equipped cancer-specific gym (CUFITTER™).
Launched in 2015 it offers a diverse range of rehabilitative exercise classes and specialises in prehabilitation e.g. preparing patients for surgery, The original support group has grown into social peer groups and has other creative activities such as OUTSINGCANCER choir.
Cancer United provides a holistic programme of physical, emotional, and social support to cancer patients and survivors across Coastal West Sussex and beyond.
Our services are a critical gap and a lifeline for hundreds of patients living with the beyond cancer.
