Description:
CHASE Africa is a small UK-based charity working with partners in East Africa to deliver family planning services, healthcare and environmental education projects to marginalised communities in remote areas of Kenya and Uganda.
Our vision is a world where women and men can access basic healthcare and choose the timing, number and spacing of their children, resulting in healthier, wealthier families, communities and more sustainable environments.
Our mission is to enable women and men in fragile rural environments to access basic healthcare, empower them to choose the timing, number and spacing of their children and also support environmental sustainability.
We currently work with 13 partners across Kenya and Uganda. Since 2012 we have provided over 482,000 family planning services, distributed more than 4.1 million condoms and provided over 1.1 million healthcare services.
We support our partners to run mobile clinics to deliver free family planning and healthcare services to economically poor, rural communities with little to no access to government-funded health services. Services include education about family planning and sexual and reproductive health (including anti-FGM education), provision of vaccinations, HIV testing, cancer screening, immunisations, and a wide variety of long and short-term contraceptive services. Our partners use a combination of transport means - including camels, 4x4s, bicycles, and nurses with backpacks travelling by foot - to ensure even the most difficult-to-reach communities are served.
We support marginalised rural communities, especially in fragile ecosystems, to pursue sustainable livelihoods and live in harmony with their natural environment. We have also recently begun influencing more organisations to deliver quality integrated community health, environmental protection & sustainable livelihoods initiatives.
