The Du Boisson Dance Foundation (DBDF) is committed to supporting young people who have the potential to achieve the arduous goal of performance, irrespective of their ability to pay. Supporting both its full time school, the Young Dancers Academy (YDA) and the part time school, the West London School of Dance (WLSDance), a large cohort of its students many from disadvantaged backgrounds, are given the opportunity to thrive in the world of performing arts, an opportunity which without the funding from DBDF, would not be possible.
YDA students come from all over the country, many starting their career at WLSDance. All students at both schools have the opportunity to perform in school shows, staged in London West End theatres, and several are currently performing in West End Musicals. The full time students at YDA are given full vocational training and a first rate academic education with the school receiving an Outstanding in All Areas from Ofsted in 2017 for academic excellence.
(The schools are open to all pupils showing talent and commitment to ballet and related performing arts and aim to advance and co-ordinate the academic and vocational excellence by providing specialist facilities for ballet training within its premises).
DBDF is also committed to its work within the community, promoting dance and related performance arts for children who might otherwise be excluded by virtue of economic, social or cultural reasons and the Charity forms links and relationships with other organisations actively involved in ballet and performing arts, in order to enhance and benefit the public and society as a whole.
