Description:
The Estuary League of Friends is a local charity dedicated to helping people in need of care, comfort and support living in rural parts of Exeter and East Devon. Core services include: home help for independent living (such as tidying trip hazards, helping with washing, changing bedding, cleaning, household maintenance and gardening), assisted transport to and from health appointments, and a vibrant range of services, groups and activities delivered from our Topsham based community hub, Nancy Potter House, including Memory Café for people with dementia and their carers, Estuary Ladies bringing women together to learn new skills, Sing-a-longs, Seated Dance and Baby Phonics. Our expert staff and committed local volunteers help over 600 local people each year.
We also built and run Nancy Potter House, a thriving hub for all the community, welcoming 2,700 visitors weekly. The hub is an important place for the elderly, disabled and vulnerable to access vital services and connect with others.
Despite the vital role our charity plays in promoting the health and wellbeing of our community, particularly of the most vulnerable, Estuary receives no regular financial support from local authorities or the NHS. Our work would be impossible without the generosity of our supporters who fundraise and donate to help us continue making a difference to people in need.
