The Norfolk Hospice Tapping House is committed to providing outstanding care for adults in the local community living with life-shortening illnesses and to their carers, families and friends. It supports an area covering 550 square miles covering some 177,000 residents.
All of our Palliative and End of Life Care is delivered free of charge. The current services cost over £2.5million per year to run and only 32% of this is funded by the NHS, with the majority coming from local groups, businesses and individuals.
The Dr. Hugh Ford Inpatient Unit currently has ten ensuite bedrooms designed to provide privacy and dignity. The unit is open 24 hours, seven days a week to allow friends and families of patients to visit at any time. The aim of the unit is to provide support and care tailored to the individual with a wide range of symptoms associated with life-shortening illness. A team of nurses and nursing assistants led by a nurse consultant deliver high quality nursing and medical care
Our Day Therapy Services include physiotherapy, circuit exercises, gardening for health, complimentary therapies, hair and beauty, creative therapies, breathlessness management and fatigue management.
We also offer a ?Monday morning meet up? service; this is open to everyone who uses the hospice, including their friends and families.
Our Hospice at Home service supports those in the last weeks of life that have chosen to die at home. The team provide holistic care that supports both patients and their families, physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Our Family and Carer Support team can help with a wide range of issues including financial advice, emotional support and advanced care planning. Alongside the Specialist Palliative Social Worker, our Chaplain, Counsellors and trained volunteers provide support to patients and families during times of illness and following bereavement. We also work with Nelson?s Journey who provide bereavement support to children up to the age of 17 and EACH who provide counselling to parents and their families at the hospice monthly.
