In the footsteps of Iain Lom - John Macdonald, Bard of Keppoch

Location: West Highland Museum

Event date:

We are delighted to celebrate, as part of Fort William MOD 2025, a talk hosted by our President Professor Hugh Cheape on Iain Lom. This talk follows aspects of folklore and one person's footsteps from 17th century Lochaber.

In any country it is remarkable to be able to access oral tradition from a period over 300 years ago and we are fortunate in Lochaber - as in other areas of the Highlands and Islands - to have such an opportunity.

If John MacDonald of the Braes of Lochaber was indeed Poet Laureate to King Charles II, he was much more besides as tradition can still tell us in remarkable detail.

Date - Tuesday 14 October
Time - 4pm
Venue - West Highland Museum, Commando Room
