Event date:
The story of Isabel Haldane of Ardsheal and the Cruel Captain Caroline Frederick Scott
Told by Maggie Craig as part of the Jacobite Festival 2025
“I do think your husband was a great fool to join the rebels.”
How the courageous wife and mother Isabel Haldane of Ardsheal in Appin stood up to the cruel and brutal Captain Caroline Frederick Scott when he and his redcoats out of Fort William were harrying the countryside and searching for Isabel’s husband Charles Stewart, who was in hiding near their home. Scott had also successfully held the fort at Fort William against the Jacobites' siege of it.
