3 Peaks Challenge for the Red Pandas and Komodo Dragons

On the 18th September 2018 my team and I from Colchester Zoo will be taking part in the 3 Peaks Challenge.
This challenge involves climbing the highest mountain in Scotland, then England and finally Wales. All in 24 hours!
Why are we doing this you ask?
Well its all in the name of Colchester Zoo's charity Action for the Wild.
The first charity is the Red Panda Network; a charity dedicated to the conservation of the red pandas in the wild. This charity plays a vital role in protecting the remaining forests that the pandas live in, as well as helping revive degraded forest in the area. They also have hired staff to become national forest guardians to protect the pandas against poaching and trafficking.
The second charity is the Komodo Survival Programme. This charity manages the Wae Wuul Nature Reserve on the island of Flores in Indonesia. The reserve is committed to raising awareness of the importance of dragons in the community. They also play a vital role in patrolling the reserve and monitoring dragon populations.
Both charities are doing an incredible job and this is why my team and I are raising money to help them continue their work. These species are both unique and stunning in their own right, and with both their populations currently decreasing (red panda populations have decreased by 50% in the past 20 years, and it is thought that there are only 350 breeding female komdo dragons left in the wild!) it is more important than ever to help these charities!
