Sue Jones is raising money for Vision of Adventure

My story

Well we only did it!! Thanks to the superb guiding from Kath Finn, and for all the encouragement and obviously the donations :-). Boom!

Well, I’ve never done this before, so it feels a bit strange, but here goes.  Myself and my friend Kath are taking part in Windermere sprint Triathlon on the 29th of June, and, I wanted to combine it with raising some money for a charity which has literally changed my life (oh and because I am 50 this year so it feels fitting to do something new!) I started cycling with vision of adventure in 2022, and thanks to a lovely pilot who I met there, I have been cycling ever since.  I was already running at this point, and last year I attended my first outdoor swimming course with VOA, which has now become a part of my life like the cycling and running.

Vision of adventure develop their courses based on what members want to achieve, and last year they put on a training course, to practice the 3 disciplines of triathlon, and the transitions from one to the other; the amount of organisation, the mounds of kit, the expertise of the coaches, the dedication of the volunteer guides, it blows me away every time.  VOA never feels like “them and us”, it feels like a group of like-minded people getting together to get fit, learn and have fun. I’ve made some wonderful friends and training and event buddies.

The last year has been a year of firsts. First sprint triathlon (LOTS of lessons learned), first cycling sportive, first duathlon – and I would be doing precisely none of these activities without the leg up from VOA.

If you are able, please do give what you can to ensure this amazing charity can keep developing other budding athletes to push for new goals.  Thank you.

Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto Vision of Adventure.

My updates

Yesterday, Kath Finn and I completed Windermere sprint Triathlon. It was a fantastic experience, and the learning from Capenray last year paid dividends. Kath was an absolutely superb, competent calm guide. We had a lovely chilled swim, Setting us up for a good cycle (despite me wearing the wrong shoes!) . And  finishing on a decent enough run.  Great  day. Thanks to all my friends and family for your words of encouragement, and for your donations which will make a difference to Vision Of Adventure., meaning that other visually impaired people get a chance to participate in activities that would otherwise be out of their reach. What’s next I wonder?
