My story

As part of Kidney Cancer awareness month, I'm taking part in the Keepin' it Renal 54 challenge in memory of Ricky Casey, the husband of my friend Nicola Casey.

There is a 54 mile walk from Blackpool FC to Springhead FC in Oldham. I'll be joining at the 54 km mark back to Springhead. This is going to be the toughest challenge I've done yet!

The aim is to raise as much money as possible and to help the charity with all the amazing things that they are already doing.

They are the first UK charity to support families and patients in the UK with the rare kidney cancer RMC (renal medullary carcinoma)

Ricky was a firefighter in the Oldham area and was diagnosed in 2018 and unfortunately lost his battle with RMC in 2019.

The charities goals are to start medical trials to help find a cure for rare kidney cancers, they also aim to spread awareness and give support to those diagnosed and their families.

I'd be really grateful for any donations to keep me going and ignore the inevitable blisters I'll get on my feet! 🧡
