Hello again on this bank holiday Monday. 👋🏻 There are tired paws here this morning as we did the second #Wagathon walk yesterday evening and it was a big one - 6.7km, so 12.2km in total. We headed back down the coast to one of our favourite walks - around St Baldred's Cradle and along Ravensheugh Sands.
This walk feels even longer than 6.7km as it's so varied, with lots of rocks to scramble over on the first stretch as we head along the rocky shore, then up to the grassy headland of St Baldred's Cradle, before following the path back to the woods and then to the long stretch of sandy beach at Ravensheugh. The beach sounds like the easy part, but soft sand is always a workout when you're a lowrider! (Or a human for that matter!) So this walk was a workout. More than that, it was filled with sniffs and a real sense of adventure.
Having said that I wasn't sure whether Bracken would be joining us for this one as he was really tired after Saturday's walk (and after a whole week of long walks during our hols), he was definitely not about to be left behind yesterday when we were getting ready to go. And we took our cue from how he was feeling - if he'd stayed in bed and refused to budge then fair enough! But he was up, at the door, and ready. A year ago, last August, we couldn't have taken him on this walk as his breathing was too laboured, so it really does feel great (that's an understatement!) to see him stronger and healthier (and breathing more easily) again.
So our Wagathon walks are behind us but the fundraiser remains open. We really appreciate the donations for Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home. And if you'd like to follow along with yesterday's walk. part one is now on our Instagram stories, and we'll be sharing part two later.
And if you missed part one, from Saturday, it's on our highlights.
Thank you again,
Fiona, Harris + Bracken x x x
