Event dates: 1st December 2021 – 31st December 2021

Jack William Hunt is raising money for Age UK Cambridgeshire and Peterborough

My story

Welcome, thank you for visiting my page!

My name is Jack and I am a volunteer for Age UK Cambridgeshire & Peterborough (AGEUKCAP). I have been volunteering with this charity since early September 2020, providing a wide range of support to campaigns including 'Slip Into Slippers' and 'The Big Knit', and assisting with other tasks along the way. I started volunteering with this charity because I wanted to make an innovative difference to people’s lives and be part of an organisation which encourages creative ideas. I believe in their cause and feel, irrespective of age, people should be able to live well and ‘their best life’. The ageing process naturally brings challenges with a bit of support these can overcome, and AGEUKCAP help older people to do that.

That’s why this December, I will be running a mile a day to raise awareness and donations for Age UK Cambridgeshire & Peterborough and I am asking for your support.

According to Be Well in Cambridgeshire, there are 50,000 people over the age of 65 in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough who may be at risk of loneliness. Many older people can go a month or more without talking to a friend, family member or neighbour and this year the pandemic will have made loneliness even worse for many.

What do AGEUKCAP do?

AGEUKCAP is a charitable organisation which provides a wide range of services and support to older people across the Peterborough and Cambridgeshire region, with the belief that every person should enjoy later life. From services such as Friendship Clubs to Telephone Befriending Services, and Practical Home Support to Information & Advice, we want everyone to be able to ‘love later life’. We work to reduce social isolation deliver services which aim to reduce feelings of loneliness.

We offer Information and Advice to all people aged 60 or over and their carers on a range of topics to include the following:

Welfare Benefit Entitlements; Consumer; Family

Personal Health & Disability; Housing, including residential care (Transport/Blue Badges)

Employment Leisure activities (including lunch clubs)
