My story

Welcome, thank you for visiting my page!

My name is Jack and I am a volunteer for Age UK Cambridgeshire & Peterborough (AGEUKCAP). I have been volunteering with this charity since early September 2020, providing a wide range of support to campaigns including 'Slip Into Slippers' and 'The Big Knit', and assisting with other responsibilities such as database management and social media. I started volunteering with this charity because I wanted to make an innovative difference to peoples lives and be part of an organisation which encourages creative ideas.

This December, I will be running a mile a day to raise awareness and donations for Age UK Cambridgeshire & Peterborough. AGEUKCAP is an amazing organisation who provides a wide range of services and support to older people across the region, with the belief that every person should enjoy later life. I will be using Strava to track my activity and updating daily onto social media!

According to Be Well in Cambridgeshire, there are 50,000 people over the age of 65 in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough who may be at risk of loneliness. Many older people can go a month or more without talking to a friend, family member or neighbour and this year the pandemic will have made loneliness even worse for many.

What do AGEUKCAP do?

From services such as Friendship Clubs to Telephone Befriending Services, and Practical Home Support to Information & Advice, we want everyone to be able to love later life. We work to reduce social isolation and invest in campaigns which support aging people suffering from loneliness. Your donation will contribute towards these services and will help combat loneliness and isolation the older generation face.

We offer Information and Advice to all people aged 60 or over and their carers on the following topics:

Welfare Benefit Entitlements Consumer Family

Personal Health & Disability Housing, including residential care (Transport/Blue Badges)

Employment Leisure activities (including lunch clubs)
