An Inca Trail Adventure

Two English Teachers take on the Inca Trail in Peru… what could go wrong?

At best, we see the ancient Incan Ruins of Machu Pichu and come across Paddington in the deepest, darkest depths of Peru. At worst, altitude sickness.

For those of you who don’t know, the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is a 27 mile trek through the Peruvian Andes over 4 days while camping. Farina and Laura dabble in some hiking but nothing quite like this. We will be utilising our uniquely curated “hill climbing playlist” (on Spotify, if you want to search it) and singing The Climb as we head up the trail.

As we have opted to do this for “fun”, we are going to use this opportunity to raise some money for Umbrella.

Umbrella is a local Derby based charity that does incredible work for disabled children, young adults and their families. Farina’s siblings have been using the services they provide for over 15 years. The respite for families and the socialisation for the children makes such a huge impact on the wellbeing of everyone. The services and opportunities they provide for so many families and children are invaluable. The work they do is nothing short of inspirational.

About us: 
We became friends during our teacher training many moons ago. We share a love of Wagas, the theatre, cake, old school Disney and travelling.

Farina has never been camping and has the cardio fitness of a potato. If you’ve ever seen Farina go up a hill, you’ll know this will be quite the experience.
 
Laura is a keen hiker, with a love for books, King Bob (her cat), karaoke and a good slice of cake.
