Stathern Duathlon 2016

Event date: 20th March 2016

Andrew Rickwood is raising money for Stathern Primary School Fund

My story

Stathern is a small rural village in the middle of the Vale of Belvoir in Leicestershire. Each year a duathlon is organised (comprising a 5km run, 18km bike ride and then another 5k run), to raise money for Stathern Primary School and for young people in the village.

Stathern Primary School is a small primary school of 77 pupils that serves over eight villages around the Vale of Belvoir.

Having watched other competitors in awe over the last few years, thinking to myself ?one day I?ll?.?, last weekend I decided to buy a slightly less decrepit bike and entered myself into the race.

Taking into account my complete lack of fitness, the reality is that it is going to hurt (a lot) and there is a chance I may not survive. Having evaluated that risk (and added it to the programme risk log), though I think it's worth it, but I would like to try and raise some money for the school and young people in the village.

Therefore I'm asking everyone to please dig deep and sponsor me. The school, only just manages to survive each year financially and it does such an amazing job for the young people of Stathern and the surrounding villages. Every contribution you can make will help to ensure its future and make a difference to both current and future pupils.

Thank you!
