Anita and Clare's Great North Run!

Clare and I began our running journey a few years ago however it took on a new significance during lockdown when it was one of the few things that kept us sane! It has always been a chance to chat, exercise and have a bit of head space. Although neither of us will tell you we love running, we decided last year that we would have a go at a half marathon. Up to this point the furthest we have run is 10km, but we have been working steadily over the last few months and we are trying our best to get towards the distance of 21km for the half. We are both running the Great North Run on the 11th September, and it is going to be tough! we want to challenge ourselves, but also at the same time, we really want to raise some money for two charities. Clare's son Alex has Down's Syndrome, and we are raising money for the Downs Syndrome Association for the incredible work they do supporting families like Clare's. I am also raising money for Global Care. The last few years have been very difficult with so many of the vulnerable children Global Care supports going hungry and losing years of their education because of the pandemic. The least I can do is to try and push myself to do something, and try and raise some much needed funds to help with the current crises in places like Sri Lanka and Syria.
