Issy is raising money for VISION 21
Hello!
My name is Isabella, I am 18, and currently attend Cardiff University. I have made the brave decision of attempting the Cardiff half marathon in October.....All in the name for a very special charity..
My course at university means that I frequently go out on placements during the years. I took the opportunity after having a very inspiring presentation from Vision 21, to visit their Fairwater community garden. I was only at the centre for half a day, (which I spent rubbing out pencil on lollipop sticks!) By the end of the time I spent there, I could really see how much of a difference Vision 21 makes to those with learning disabilities lives. The community garden gave everyone a chance to have a go at doing something enjoyable and different. Even rubbing out pencil on lollipop sticks was fun, and all the students were so upbeat about everything they did.The truly unique part of Vision 21, is that the students also gain certificate qualifications whilst taking part in things that they love. Whether that may be pottery, cooking or gardening!
The team at Vision 21 are truly inspiring people, and they deserve all the help they can get. Their dedication is outstanding, and from my experience, they make the centre extremely special.
I want to raise as much money for this charity, from the day that I heard this presentation, I have felt that there is something different about this organisation. I feel the centre is an amazing place, and if you ever get the chance to visit, then you would realise it really does change people's lives.
The half marathon is on the 17th October, and I plan to run 13.1 miles in about 2hours (give or take!) I am going to be training throughout the summer, and I would really appreciate any donations however big or small, as every penny counts and is greatly appreciated. I have put £100 as the target, but obviously if we raise more....that would be AMAZING!
Thank You very much for taking time to read this message, and I will do my best to cross that finish line!
Isabella x
