Amazing work, Becca and some of the bathtub footage has to be my favourite. I think the image of your legs in the air is etched in my mind forever! 🤣

Becca Harvey is raising money for PTSD UK
I'm experiencing cold water once a day for a month to support PTSD Uk's Dip a Day December.
I'm going to be sharing the water with some facts about PTSD and C-PTSD everyday through my social media. (@becca.harvs on Instagram)
I've got a lot of cold water experience, but I've never consistently got in for this period of time because in all honesty I lack the psych it takes sometimes. I want to use this as a way of having some allotted time for water at the moment, as with work and ongoing therapy getting that time outside is becoming more difficult but more needed! So I'm hoping this gives me the kick up the arse I need.
I also really admired PTSD UK's stance on "dip" that it can be a tub in your back garden, a cold shower, a swim.... it's all about making cold water accessible to each individual and being paramount on safety.
My personal story:
I was diagnosed with PTSD in 2017 and have been trying to manage it ever since. PTSD UK have been a welcome resource for me to understand that better and to also know that I'm not alone in that diagnosis. When I first found out, I struggled with shame because I thought only war veterans get this so since then I've been using my voice to talk more about my own experience, but to let everyone know that ANYTHING we find traumatic can lead to post traumatic stress.
Whenever I've struggled or found therapy hard, cold water seems to zap me back in to a reality where I can cope, so when I found out about this challenge and the opportunity to talk more about the charity. I had to do it. I'm currently 6 weeks in to a 16 week programme of therapy and hoping this challenge can help me manage the complexities of that too :)
Disclaimer: I am a trained Ice Swimmer so will be doing swims in open water as well. I'd also like to highlight that cold water is not the miracle cure but it's a tool that can help!
