My story
FUNDRAISER BEN MARKS 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE TREBLE WITH HIS BIGGEST CHALLENGE YET
Northern Ireland schoolboy Ben Dickinson, who’s already raised more than £35,000 with his charity challenges so far, is taking a huge step to mark one of football’s greatest achievements and raise even more money for a trio of charities.
The 12-year-old, who last year marched from Larne all the way to Old Trafford, is now preparing for a Treble Trek that will take him to Manchester, London and Barcelona in the next year. The Trek will see the youngster walk a total of 1999 laps around the three stadiums where Manchester United won the Treble, starting at Old Trafford before moving onto Wembley and finishing at the Nou Camp in time for the 25th Anniversary next May.
Ben, who’s a Manchester United fan, and was inspired by Marcus Rashford’s fundraising efforts, received the prestigious Diana Award for his charitable work, the highest honour a young person in the UK can receive for social action or humanitarian efforts.
Having raised enough money to pay for more than 115,000 meals for FareShare in his last 64-mile challenge, Ben’s aiming to provide even more for the food poverty charity but will also be walking to support the work of Soccer Aid/Unicef and Greater Manchester-based Foundation 92.
