A new church for Doha in Qatar / Flora London Marathon 2009

Event dates: 13th January 2009 – 31st July 2009

Bertrand Olivier is raising money for Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf Endowment Fund

My story

Stop Press: Marathon completed in 4 hours and 15 min. There is still plenty of time to reward my efforts by sponsoring the Doha project.

I am running the London Marathon to support the building of a new
church in Doha, Qatar. This is an extraordinary project which came
about through the generous gift of land by the Emir of Qatar.

The church compound will not only serve the anglican community there,
but also all protestant churches, by offering hospitality and a worthy
place for building community, education and worship, primarily for
immigrant populations far away from home.

I started running last year, and have found that setting myself the
challenge of running the Marathon has helped me tremendously in
achieving my goals. The church of All Hallows by the Tower has strong
links with the Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf, and I feel very enthused
by the Doha project. I hope the vision of the new church centre in
Qatar will sustain me in the difficult moments of this 26.2 mile race.

You can find further information about the Doha building project on
the following website: epiphany-qatar.org/buildingproject.html

Please encourage my marathon training and running by generously
supporting this project. You can sponsor me either through this site or by sending a UK cheque,
made out to 'the Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf Endowment fund (Qatar)', to
the All Hallows by the Tower office.
If you are a UK taxpayer please gift aid your
sponsorship. Thank you for your support.
