Running 500 Miles along UK's Canals to Raise £500 for MCH Critical Care Unit without running over the same ground twice by the end of 2022 (£310 raised on Virgin Giving)
Event dates: 9th December 2021 – 31st December 2022
Adrian Wootton is raising money for Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charitable Fund
My story
I have watched with great admiration as my wife and her colleagues have worked on Critical Care throughout the pandemic and wanted to show my appreciation of the work that they have been doing by taking on this running challenge. I started running in June 28th 2020 on the Llangollan Canal and was hoping to complete the 500 miles by the end of 2021 however medical issues and lock downs have slowed me down and my target is now the end of 2022. Each mile has to be a new mile so I have to constantly travel further and most of the time I have to double back and run two miles to gain one mile. Despite the difficulties the whole project has been very enjoyable as there is much interesting stuff to be seen on the canal system, the scenery can be fantastic and the running keeps you fit! You can follow my progress on Instagram at canal_run_500 and strava.com/athletes/16736391. I previously raised £310 on the Virgin fundraising platform before the platform closed leaving me with a remaining target of £190.
