Cathy LeRoux's Sheffield Half Marathon Run

Event date: 27th May 2012

CathyLeRoux is raising money for START (SURVIVORS TRAUMA AND ABUSE RECOVERY TRUST)

My story

I'm a mother-of-three, a secondary school teacher, and 'Mole' in the Beaver Scout colony that I run. I also have D.I.D. (Dissociative Identity Disorder), and have chosen the rocky road of refusing to hide my multiplicity both professionally and socially. This makes life embarrassing, painful and overwhelming at times, but I've got to keep going - you can't 'untell' people - and the amazing thing is that most folks have reacted to my honesty by being initially bewildered, then curious, but finally supportive and accommodating in ways I could never have imagined.

I used to be convinced that I would physically split in two if I tried to run. However since January this year I have rediscovered the joys of literally running away from the pain of life - and now it's an addiction - I HAVE to do it every day. I'm beginning to feel stronger and healthier, and I'm really enjoying it. On the 27 May 2012 I will be running the Sheffield Half Marathon to raise money for START (Survivors Trauma and Abuse Recovery Trust). So please support me and them by donating.
