My story
In March 2025, during a night out in Portsmouth, alone, waiting for a taxi, a stranger took advantage of my vulnerability and safety. Unaware of what had happened until the police reports, the aftermath revealed the unthinkable actions he had committed, leaving me shattered and in need of support. Through the heartbreaking evidence and followed by the court case, I had my incredible ISVA, Becca, to make this a much easier and kinder process.
I will be hosting a charity ball event on Saturday 3rd October at the Newtown Hotel, Hayling Island.
Yellow Door is a charity which support survivors of sexual violence and domestic abuse across Southampton and Hampshire. Yellow Door supported 4709 people of all genders and ages last years. With 1 in 4 women, 1 in 6 children and 1 in 18 men experiencing sexual assault in their lifetime there is a need for incredibly services like Yellow Door to exist. Not only does Yellow Door support survives of assault through their ISVA service, they also provide therapeutic services, psycho-educational programs and a dedicated Diversity and Inclusion advocacy service for those from diverse demographics and with protected characteristics. Since the pandemic referrals to Yellow Door have increased by 182% therefore the services of Yellow Door continued to be needed throughout the local community.
