Event dates: 15th January 2020 – 15th October 2020

Katie Phillips is raising money for Celtic Capability Sailing

My story

Since the creation of Celtic Capability Sailing, I have been able to watch as they grow and inspire their sailors to try something new and go outside of their comfort zones. It is from seeing the amazing work they do, and the smiles on everyone's face after a day, or even hours, of sailing and fun that has made me decide to raise money for the amazing work they do.
Over the next 9 months, I plan to walk the equivalent of the perimeter of Wales- 1,069 miles. Taking on this task in addition to my university course and part-time job will be a massive challenge. I will be so grateful for any support you can give me. Sponsoring me will not only help to give me the boost I so desperately need, it will also enable Celtic Capability Sailing to give a boost to disabled and disadvantaged people in need.
Please go coastal for Celtic with me and sponsor me now!

Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto Celtic Capability Sailing.

My updates

All 1,069 miles are now done and my walk is finished!

1,056 miles down- just 13 to go!
Just 3 days left of my walk and then it's all over! There were a few times since the start of the lockdown and when I was having issues with my ankle that I was thinking I wasn't going to be able to finish this on time but thanks to a few extra long walks (and dancing around for an hour or so) I've been able to claw my daily steps way down to a much more manageable level.
With the end so close it feels right to have one final push for donations towards this amazing charity to help them keep doing what they do, especially in these uncertain times. So please give anything you can and please share it far and wide!
I also need to start thinking about how I'm going to celebrate the end of this 9-month challenge, it would be wrong to not have something to mark the occasion even if it's just something small due to the pandemic!
As always thank you for your support!

900 miles down- 169 to go!
This is it- the last month! Time for me to stop having lazy days and just smash out these final miles.
I will admit that if I don't have a specific reason to, I tend to be quite lazy and don't leave my house all day but hopefully this last month I will have the motivation to just get on and do it. As much as having a bar job where I regularly do about 5-6 miles a shift helps, I need to make sure that even when I'm not working I'm getting those steps in.
As always any support you could give would be greatly appreciated. Celtic Capability is an amazing charity that do truly wonderful work and deserve all the help they can get especially in these uncertain times where unlike others they still cannot get back out on the water doing what they love.
Please help to keep this charity going and keep me motivated by donating and sharing. Let's have a big final push for this last month! Thank you for all your support!

640 miles down- 429 to go!
The end of my walk is nearly here, just over 2 months left to get these last few miles in!
I've managed to catch up a little bit with some of my miles (I must say all these one-way systems everywhere certainly help!) I'm still slightly further behind than I would have liked but what can you do, there were just too many factors I couldn't control (like the lockdown and my dodgy ankle)
As always any help and support that you could give for my walk would be greatly appreciated and any donations will be very welcome. This time has been tough for Celtic who have, like many others, been affected by the lockdown and effects of the coronavirus. They have been unable to have any sessions out on the water, losing one of their main sources of income. Please help to support this amazing charity in hopes that next year we can get people back out onto the water, enjoying themselves.

Once again thank you for all of your support, it all helps to keep me motivated and to keep Celtic in doing the amazing work they do!

229 miles down- 840 to go!
Been a while since my last update. With the lockdown, I've not been doing too well at hitting my target steps each day but I'm beginning to make up for the days I've spent in bed with some much longer walks starting with an 8 mile walk around Barry today. (I must say I'm quite tired after that!) I need to just keep motivated and power through until October!
The lockdown is affecting Celtic Capability Sailing in that they are unable to sail and are unlikely to be able to this season. This means that they are having to rely even more heavily on donations from lovely people to make sure that they can continue their amazing work once they can get back out onto the water.
Every penny helps so please give generously and share this around to help Celtic to help even more people once it's safe to do so!
