Wayne Evans is raising money for Codebar
I have never (or even wanted to) run over 10miles, so what better way than to challenge myself mentally and physically by Running the London Landmarks Half Marathon ,while also supporting a great worthy charity.
Codebar is a charity that provides free technical workshops and events to marginalised communities. They're a great resource for:
anyone starting out with coding
career switchers who cannot afford formal education/bootcamps
professionals who would like to gain mentoring skills - some of the best engineers I've met were a Codebar Coach at some point.
Unfortunately, Codebar's funding has decreased by 60% in recent years. If this trend continues, their closure might be inevitable. Every donation counts, thank you in advance!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
More reasons why Codebar is amazing:
Workshops available weekly all year long
Attendees get to choose what they want to work on
1-1 (or 1 coach - 2 students) sessions

Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto Codebar.
I DID IT 🥳🏅
What an amazing day. Never done a race that was so well supported , Not even 1 inch of the 13.1 miles was unsupported or quiet. Well Done London 👏👏
100% recommend this run to anyone who gets the chance.
The course was very busy with runners, had lots of twists and turns to take you through the streets of London to see the wonderful landmarks it has to offer.
The weather was warm and sunny , made the waiting around at the start nice, but I was soon cursing it 30 mins into my run when my T shirt was soaked and my head/face was looking very red and sweaty.
I ran well until 7 miles when the old legs started to wonder what they were doing moving for this length of time. But I managed to keep them going with the promise of a sit down and a 🍺if they got me over the Finish Line.
My Finish Time was 2 hours 2 minutes and 50 seconds , Happy with that and I couldn't have done much more on the day.
I Would like to say a massive THANK YOU to Harwin and everyone who sponsored me, took time to look at my page (even if it was just for a laugh at my training and mishaps) and wished me well
Less than 24 hours to go , I'm sitting here thinking if I win big on the grand national today , how much it would cost to get Sir Mo Farah to run it for me..... can't see it happening with my 50p each way bet . Looks like I'll just have to man up and get on with what I have been 'training' for 🏃♂️. Looks like it's going to be a sunny day , so I have creamed my head ready , unsafe is uncool.
**UPDATE ** What do you get if you cross a wheelbarrow, stepladder and me ? A chance to be on You've Been Framed.... I've had some injuries in my time but like this was a first.... Stuck hanging from my shed roof shouting for help was not what 'taking it easy' is supposed to be . A few bruises and a cut shin later🤕 I'm back on my feet ,dusting myself off and ready for the weekend 🏃♂️. Going to wrap myself in bubble wrap until then 🤣🤣🤣
Training week 12 , (last full week of training) = 4 runs total , 1 interval , 1 race pace run , 1 work Harwinners team run and a morning run to pick the car up (every run squeezed in helps i hope).
This week will mostly be tapering down , building my energy levels and S#!tting myself 😱(but not the weight lost kind).
Decided that I'm either going to love it, push on with some more events or hate every minute and burn my trainers at the finish line (if I get that far). I'm going to enjoy the calm before the storm 😎🏃♂️👍
Training week 11 = 2 runs , both in Blackpool , 1 parkrun tour and 1 run along the sea front. Legs were very tired and heavy from the long run the week before so had to miss any runs at the start of the week 🤬🤬.
Think I will cut out the long runs now and work on some speed and intervals runs as don't want to feel like that again 🤕
I'll just have to give it my all and blag it on the big day🏃♂️🤞
