My story
It’s been a while since I set out on a fundraising adventure, but 2023 & 2024 promise to be full of challenges with plenty of money and awareness to be raised for two great local charities. I have also convinced a number of colleagues at Seriös Group to get involved with the fundraising activities.
I plan on running my 16th and 17th Great North Runs, both in crazy fancy dress!
Marcus, Emma-Leigh and Miikael are also running the Great North Run in 2023
Yorkshire Tough Mudder, coming in 2024, is a gruelling course of 10+ miles and over 20 obstacles. Myself, Marcus, Emma-Leigh, Miikael, Steve W, Graham, Nathan, John, Tom K, Connor and Callum are all taking part in this one.
I will be running my first (and probably only!) marathon in London in April 2024 - despite running the Great North Run so many times I am not a massive fan of running itself. Running a marathon will be one of my biggest challenges I have ever attempted for charity.
There will no doubt be a number of other events between now and the end of 2024.
The Charites we will be raising funds for are:
St Oswald’s Hospice, who are a charitable hospice rooted in the North East.
The hospice provides outstanding, specialist and expert care to adults and children with life-limiting conditions, and for their families too.
St Oswald’s Hospice is a place where people matter. A place that focuses both on living and dying well. It is a home-from-home, filled with honesty, camaraderie and hope that offers quality time for everyone.
Visit www.stoswaldsuk.org for more information.
The second charity we will be supporting is the Eagles Community Foundation. The main aim of the foundation is to grow levels of sustainable basketball participation in Tyneside, Wearside and South East Northumberland and also to get as many children as possible playing basketball across the North East to stay healthy, keep active, have fun, make friends and develop as young people. https://newcastle-eagles.com/community/
Thank you for your support!
