River Danube Cycle Ride - May 2011

Event date:

Helen Thorne is raising money for Beans Means Brains

My story

Daniela Bechley, Valerie Wheater and Helen Thorne have cycled from Passau in Germany to Vienna in Austria a total of 340km (200 miles) to raise funds for the Buhumba Lunch Project, in Uganda. This project raises funds to help provide the children of Buhumba Primary and Secondary Foundation College with a meal at lunchtime. By doing this it means that the children stay in school for the whole day rather than returning home, often walking and canoeing long distances without being adequately fed. Exam results have recently shown a tremendous improvement which the headteacher attributes to this project.
We had a fantastic time - and many thanks to all of you who have sponsored us ( and indeed, are still donating even when we have finished!).
Hope to do the next section in2012....watch this space!
