Cycling from Milan to London for Cancer Research
Event date: 6th September 2023
Robert Baseley is raising money for Cancer Research UK
My story
Our group (inspiredliving.org.uk) has organised and executed 7 European cycling rides across multiple countries raising money for Cancer Research since 2009. To date we have raised circa £370K with our last ride being in 2019 from the Uk to Barcelona and then Covid got in the way! Endurance cycling is our way of helping to raise vital funds in the research of this serious disease and all of us in the group know of someone who has either suffered from it or and as in my case lost someone very special to it. For this reason we feel we need to go again and perhaps for the last time, we hope we can raise as much as possible to help continue the fight against this disease and your help if you can will again be very gratefully received.
On August 30th 2023, his holiness the Pope will host a private audience with a few of our members and launch our latest ride across Europe, from here they will cycle through Italy to Milan where most of us (28) including myself will start on the 6th September. Immediately we are faced with steep long mountain climbs over the Stelvio pass in Italy then onto Austria, passing over the Alps, Germany, France and then to the UK where we aim to finish in parliament Square London on the 16th of September - this will be around 1100 miles covering around 100 hilly miles per day so wish me luck!
My wife Alison is again part of the 6 support crew with 2 donated vans and 2 motorcyclists keeping us fed and watered along the way. Im so grateful for her support not only for the ride but for the empty weekends this year where I have been training hard in a vain attempt to get fitter and to be able to take part! I'm also pleased to have my son James riding again this year but I expect he will be along way in front of me.
We are fully funding ourselves so 100% of your donation will go to supporting Cancer Research and I can't thank you enough not only for your kind donation if you can manage it but also for the many years you have helped us to help Cancer Research, It does mean so much to so many.
Thankyou
Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto Cancer Research UK.

Thanks for everyone's support, I'm trying to do as much training as I can but two things keep getting in the way - work and weather! Going have to find a way to intensify this in the next few weeks as - Not long Now!!
