Dormez-vous? A magical performance & residency for children with ASD

Dormez-vous? is a weeklong creative residency and theatre experience brought to special schools for students with ASD. The goals of the residency are to:
a) Unlock the children's creativity through their engagement in immersive, play-based activities, improvisation and sensory exercises, and
b) Have the children experience a live performance of Dormez-vous? in a venue.

Dormez-vous? focuses on the theme of sleeplessness and using a range of non-verbal and visually focused workshops, encourages the children to express different feelings and thoughts on the subject of sleeplessness.

Working with artists, the creative residency is designed to promote communication, socialisation, playful interaction and creative interaction, encouraging participants to find new ways to connect to the world around them.

Students are introduced to elements of the production throughout the residency to familiarise them with components of the performance.

60+ pillows and a large prop bed, are used in sensory and relaxation exercises during the residency. Various other activities throughout the residency introduce the children to elements of the performance in advance to prepare them on what to expect during the live performance, eliminating any uncertainty and surprise
