Dr. Matilda Chongwa is raising money for Wolverhampton Rotary Club Charitable Trust and Global Diabetes Initiatives
We are raising funds for Global Diabetes Initiatives to expand our community-based diabetes prevention and wellbeing programmes across the UK. The growing prevalence of Type 2 diabetes continues to place significant pressure on individuals, families and the NHS. Through our work, we provide free and low-cost health checks, education, and physical activity programmes such as football, tennis and walking, helping people understand their risk and take practical steps towards prevention and remission. Our approach focuses on early intervention, reducing inequalities, and improving both physical and mental wellbeing in underserved communities.
The Rotaract Club are supporting this effort as part of their commitment to community service, health promotion and social impact. Their involvement strengthens volunteer engagement, outreach and awareness, enabling us to reach more people and create sustainable change. Together, we are working to empower communities to live healthier, longer lives.
Alongside all the above, as a Rotarian too, half of the funds raised will go to support the vital work of the Rotary Club of the City of Wolverhampton's Charitable Trust to enable it to carry out it's humanitarian projects, locally and internationally
